Our Team Welcomes You
Dentists
Dr. Susan K. Chow
After I finished my four years of dental school at UBC, I started to practice General Dentistry in the Point Grey area in Vancouver. I have enjoyed serving my patients to do what is best for them to the best of my knowledge and ability for over 30 years.
Since graduation, I have participated in numerous study clubs in various disciplines of dentistry learning from distinguished mentors to constantly better my skills. I have strived to pursue excellence daily in my dental practice. It is a journey that I have committed to both personally and professionally.
In my core value, I believe in giving back to the dental profession and the society at large which has nurtured me in career development and life experience. I have served the Chinese Canadian Dental Society of BC, Vancouver and District Dental Society, College of Dental Surgeons of BC, and various other organizations. For details, please see my CV.
On a lighter note, I enjoy skiing and cheering for our “Canuck” hockey team. I am keen on biking in the summer. I love to go to occasional concerts, participate in golf games and to travel to exotic destinations. My two lovely children are my pride and joy.
In the process of embracing life to its fullest, I hope to help others do the same.
Dr. Christopher Chung
Dr. Christopher Chung attended the University of British Columbia for his training in general dentistry (1991-1995), and then in periodontology and implantology (2006-2009). He received several academic awards, highlighted by the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia Gold Medal (1995) and the 3i Implant Innovations Canada Inc. Prize in Graduate Periodontology (2008).
Dr. Chung practised general dentistry in West Point Grey and Coquitlam from 1995 to 2006, and maintains a private practice focused in periodontology and implantology since 2009.
From 1997-2006, he served as a part-time clinical instructor and from 2006-22, as a periodontics consultant at the University of British Columbia Undergraduate Dental Clinic. He was awarded the Part-time Clinical Teaching Excellence Award twice (2001 and 2003). He also sat on the Curriculum and Teaching Effectiveness Committee from 2004 to 2006, and has volunteered as an interviewer for Undergraduate Admissions at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry.
From 1995 to 2006, he volunteered at various professional organizations such as the B.C. Dental Association, the Chinese Canadian Dental Society of B.C., the UBC Dental Alumni Association, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Honorary Dental Society (secretary-treasurer). His presidencies at the Chinese Canadian Dental Society of British Columbia and the UBC Dental Alumni Association culminated in the establishment of an endowment in 2004 to fund an annual bursary awarded to UBC dental students since.
Being a believer of community service, Dr. Chung has also regularly participated in the annual province-wide Community Dental Day, volunteered at the Downtown East Side Dental Clinic, promoted dental health on local radio and TV shows, lectured at the S.U.C.C.E.S.S. medical/dental health fairs, and counselled high school and university students on career planning at Association of Chinese Canadian Professionals Careers Day events.
Dr. Chung has called Vancouver home since 1985, when he immigrated from Hong Kong as a teenager. He is very appreciative of Vancouver offering the opportunity to immerse in the Canadian culture, all the while staying in touch with his Asian roots. Today, he is able to successfully empathize and counsel his Cantonese- and Mandarin-speaking patients, with an appreciation of multiculturalism.
Dr. Chung is grateful that his peers have elected him to the International College of Dentists (2018) and the American College of Dentists (2021), which recognize individuals for community service and professionalism/ethics, respectively.
Away from work, Dr. Chung enjoys various outdoor activities that the west coast offers, such as tennis (but soon to transition to pickle ball 🤣), mountain biking and hiking, while maintaining his long-time passion in photography (some of his and his wife’s work is on display at the office). On a quiet Saturday afternoon, Dr. Chung usually finds himself enjoying tea over classical or jazz music with his wife, and perhaps going out to a concert after.

I obtained my dental degree at the University of British Columbia where I received several awards of excellence and scholarships. After graduating in 2015, I moved to Calgary, Alberta to start my dental career. I was fortunate enough to work with a great dental team that helped me develop into the dentist I am today. I focus on patient-oriented dental care as I truly believe that oral health has a huge impact on one's overall well-being and happiness. Through thorough education and comprehensive discussions, I aim to provide the best individualized care for each of my patients.
I was born in South Korea and moved to Vancouver when I was 10 years old. I moved to Calgary to join my husband for work but we have moved back to be closer to friends and family. I am very excited to have joined Folkstone dental which shares my ethos as a dentist.
In my spare time, I enjoy trying new recipes with my husband, traveling, swimming, and spending time with my growing family.
